roux ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address and the preferences you share during onboarding, including how many people you cook for, your favorite cuisines, dietary restrictions, and food allergies.
As you use the app, we collect:
- Recipe feedback (YES/NO responses)
- Recipes you save
- Free-form Ask prompts and results
- Ingredient preferences (dislikes and unavailabilities)
- A one-way hash of your device identifier (used solely to prevent trial abuse; your raw device ID is never stored)
- Notification scheduling preferences
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information exclusively to provide and improve the roux service:
- Personalizing your daily dinner suggestions
- Learning which recipes and ingredients you like and dislike
- Enforcing free-tier and trial limits
- Sending daily dinner reminder notifications (only if you enable them)
- Preventing abuse of the free trial
3. Third-Party Services
roux uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com)
- Anthropic — AI recipe generation; your profile preferences are sent to generate recipes, no personally identifying information is included (anthropic.com)
- Pexels — recipe photos fetched by keyword, no user data shared (pexels.com)
- RevenueCat — subscription management and purchase validation (revenuecat.com)
- Expo / Apple / Google — push notification delivery
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Row Level Security (RLS) policies ensure users can only access their own data.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the email below. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
6. Children's Privacy
roux is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
